Private Bedroom and Bath in Historic Providence Home (Air Room)
The Horton House is located in Providence's Elmwood Historic District, a residential enclave within an urban neighborhood. The House was built in 1869 for the Horton family and has been recently fully restored and renovated.
Note that the room is... available starting August 22, 2026; however, we can offer a temporary room on site if you need to move in earlier in August. A 25% per day discount during this period is available.
The Fire Room is one of four rooms for rent in what would have been the house's family / entertaining part of the house. This area has our four guest rooms and a shared living room, dining room, and kitchenette. The owner's family lives in a separate area of the house off of what was undoubtedly the servants' stairs.
Each guest room is inspired by one of the magical elements -- Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. The Air Room is located on the second floor along with the Water and Fire Rooms. Every room has one designated parking spot on the property. The Fire Room offers a private bedroom (queen sized bed), armoire, desk, and small dresser with en suite bathroom and use of common guest areas, including a pantry / kitchenette, dining room, living room, ample grounds, and a wrap-around porch with dining areas and rocking chairs. Each room has designated refrigerator and dry storage space. On site additional storage available. Garage space available for bikes and the like. All included.
Common areas are cleaned regularly, laundry is available on site for free. Basic supplies provided: laundry detergent, body wash, toilet paper, etc. Cleaning supplies available to maintain your room and bathroom. There is a dishwasher in the private part of the house; renters have the option to place dishes in a bin to be cleaned by the owner (renters do need to wash pots/pans and cooking utensils to leave kitchenette ready for the next renter).
The Elmwood Historic District is book-ended by two commercial streets: Elmwood Avenue (with direct bus routes to downtown in about 10 minutes) and Broad Street (with a newly installed bike line that travels the two miles to the edge of downtown, officially called DownCity). Broad and Elmwood host an array of ethnic restaurants, a grocery store, 24 hour Walgreens pharmacy, and more.
