Beautiful, light-filled home near Blackstone Boulevard and Hope St
Our home is in the quiet, family-filled Oak Hill neighborhood, half a block from Providence. With 2 historic cemeteries and the Seekonk River to the east, beautiful Blackstone Boulevard to the south, and the shops of Hope Street just a 15 minute walk... away, it's easy to access both nature walks and urban experiences. Lippitt Park's seasonal farmers' market makes for a lively weekend destination for coffee, bread and produce, and a trip to 3 Sister's Ice Cream or nearby restaurants is always a treat.
This urban refuge is set back from neighboring homes by a back patio and deck on one side and a large side yard with swing set on the other. French doors off both the living room and the kitchen make the living space feel even more expansive in the warmer months, when the gardens bloom and make for an enticing haven. In the winter, the large bay windows fill the home with light. The kitchen is newly refinished and fully equipped for cooking and baking. It's staged as a 3 bedroom but we can transform the exercise/yoga/pilates room into a bedroom with a twin or crib if helpful.
The property includes four mature oak trees that provide plentiful shade in the side yard in the summer months, as well as a newer birch in the patio. The patio and front yard are landscaped with flowers that are particularly colorful in the spring months but which provide year-round interest. There are strawberries, blueberries, and a peach tree. There are raised beds that you would be welcome to use if you'd like to plant veggies or herbs. They're tucked around the corner of the deck, so they're not an eyesore, if not! You may also spot bee hives in the photos; those will be relocated by summer!
There is a detached two car garage and the driveway accommodates two additional vehicles, in addition to street parking. The garage features spacious storage and an EV charger. There's also a shed in the side yard for storage. The street is one-block long and quiet-- a perfect place for learning to ride a bicycle-- and there are a mix of young families and seniors whose kids grew up on the street and have since left home. We are 2 miles from the MBTA commuter rail station in Pawtucket, 3 miles from the Providence MBTA and Amtrak train station, 1.5 miles from the Peter Pan bus terminal, and a few blocks from a RIPTA bus stop.
We recently invested in proactively making the basement fully watertight by installing French drains. We have not had time to refinish it, but there is ample storage space, as well as a chest freezer.
The upstairs bedrooms provide quiet sanctuaries away from the open floor plan downstairs: there is a large master with a queen, a double bed in a guest room, or the two twins in what is currently set up as a kids' room (those could be combined to make a king). The exercise room can be transformed into a fourth bedroom with a twin, or we can leave the pilates reformer there for use. All beds will have new linens.
There are 2 upstairs bathrooms: one between the master and exercise room, and one off the hallway. A front load washer/dryer in the hall makes laundry easy. An enclosed office with a desk and 2 shelving units provides a dedicated work space.
